Let’s not forget the events of 9/11 and that the war on terrorism persists. This BBQ is to honor our first responders, active military members and veterans.

How to Find Covered Picnic Shelter #2

TIP: Follow the Melissa Mason Signs as you drive in. The picnic area is behind Eugene Ashley High School football stadium (near the tennis courts) and closer to River Rd.

Google “Veterans Park nature reserve” for a map.

 

From Carolina Beach Road:

Turn onto Halyburton Memorial Pkwy.
Drive PAST Murray Middle School and Anderson Elementary School.
Turn RIGHT just past Anderson Elementary at the pond. There’s a red sign saying “Visitor Football Parking” — this is where you’ll be parking.

Follow the drive to the END and into the parking lot. Park here. The picnic shelter is located behind the football stadium visitor stands, across the parking lot from the tennis courts, and adjacent to a small lake.

 

From River Road:

Turn onto Halyburton Memorial Pkwy.
Drive PAST the Veterans Park Apartments.
Turn LEFT at small pond, just before Anderson Elementary School.

Follow the drive to the END and into the parking lot. Park here. The picnic shelter is located behind the football stadium visitor stands, across the parking lot from the tennis courts, and adjacent to a small lake.
